Apply for Playwright Commission Initiative 2024

At The Writers Room, we’re committed to nurturing the next generation of Ghanaian storytellers and that’s why we’re thrilled to announce our very own playwright commission! An exciting opportunity for two emerging Ghanaian playwrights to develop a full-length play, guided by some of the best in the storytelling industry and with get GHC10,000 in funding.

Each selected writer will receive hands-on guidance from top industry professionals to help bring their ideas to life, and a staged reading.

Genre: Any

Format: Must be a full-length play (min. 60 minutes)

Eligibility: Already completed plays will NOT be eligible

Plays must predominately be in English. Other languages in the are welcomed but must have English translations

Remuneration: GHC 10,000 per playwright
